FMP .

My word for FMP is 'layers',I researched into my word and finally decided to go into 'flowers' and 'wedding dresses',as i want to go into fashion .I first researched and had a look at digital fashion designers because I wanted to take my FMP into fashion. I'm going to go into wedding dresses so I wanted to have a look at a designers who's illustrations look elegant and have a vintage look to them ,and use both illustrator and photoshop to create different affects.

I then found a designer called Han Gu who is a London based fashion designer who use's illustrator ,photoshop and drawing it by hand together to create her illustrations, I chose her illustrations to take inspiration from because her illustrations show that she has payed attention to detail and given them a quirky look by using 3 different ways to create her illustrations which has also given a few areas of the illustration a 3D look.by looking at this i can see that she might have hand drawn the shoes, arms and legs onto grid paper, then scanned in the image, taken it into photoshop and opened up a picture she took of a women's face, changed the effect and placed it in its place and saved it.she may then have taken that image into illustrator and created the garments as they're more straight lines.I like how the face is a photo,to draw she could have used illustrator, for the area that there is print or a pattern,i could do this is photoshop and then import it into illustrator.

Sandra Suy is an illustartor who studied art in Barcelona and she prints clotheing designs in her spare time.I like her illustrations as they have a a very vintage lookq to them and she uses subtle colours, and that is the look I wanted my fashion illustration to look like because I was going for a vintage looking wedding dress.her illustrations also show movement and looks really elegant which is a look I want for the wedding dress ,by looking at her illustrations, I think that she draws with illustrator then works back into them using photoshop.

Laura Laine is a Helsinki based illustrator who is studying fashion design, she has made illustrations for Elle,H&M,Vogue, zara etc.i like how the illustrations show movement and texture.I think she might have used photoshop and then worked back into it in illustrator.

Feline Zegers is a freelance illustrator and photographer and a retoucher.i think she has drawn and painted then scanned the image in and worked on it using photoshop.i like how it has a realistic affect to it.

Cecilia Carlstedt is a illustrator and graphic designer who is based is London.i think she has drawn it then worked back into it using photoshop.i like how the clothes look really vintage but she's added just a few bright and bold colors,I also like the washed out affect.

Yannick Rigour is a French illustrator,i think she has used photoshop and the worked into it using illustrator.i like how the print covers the whole garment.i also like how the mannequin is simple,so that the garment stands out more.i also like how you can see the actual shape of the garment.

I then thought id first draw the outline of my garment and then scan it into the computer using a scanner and image capture.

I then opened the image onto illustrator,
i then double clicked on 'layer 1' and i changed the settings and set it it to template as i wanted to draw around it.

i then made a new layer and using the pen tool,I started drawing around my mannequin.

I scanned i these three images in using image capture, one is a photograph and two of them i made.

i then decided to use he first image which is the one that i made.

I cropped it so that its only the bit that i need

i then changed the hue and saturation
i then added a filter

i had a bit of a problem with getting the image to look how I wanted it to look, but i did manage to get there by flipping it and turning it to experiment to see how it looks.

i thought id experiment by making corsets and flowers as it links in with my FMP,i thought i would try different scales and effects etc to make it look different but still by using the same image but making it look a different,so that it looks like its part of the same collection.so i went into illustrator and drew a corset using the pen tool

Evaluation

For my FMP, I decided to do a wedding dress fashion illustration, as I am taking my FMP into fashion. I used a drawing that I created as a sample and then scanned it in and, used Photoshop and illustrator to edit and change it. Changing and editing the hue and saturation and adding filters to my scanned image worked well for me as I enjoyed experimenting with the different effects to see what looked better and what went well with the colours that I was using for my FMP.
If I cold do it again, I would add, the rest of the body to make it look more realistic. I would also want to add a bit of a background using Photoshop and adding filters. If I could do it again, I would create a collection of bridesmaid dresses to go with it. Drawing around the mannequin using illustrator didn’t go as well for me as it was difficult getting the outline right so that it looked like her body was tilted a little and that gave the garment movement. If I could also do it again I would use the other images that I didn’t use and add effects and layer them onto dress. I would also maybe draw and paint the face and hair in, then scan it in and work on top of it.
